Transferring from Navarro College, Nash helped her team to an 18-6 conference record this past season as a freshman. “Since we're losing all three (outfielders),” says Fields, “Nash hopes to bring experience and take on a leadership role.” Nash will have a wide range of slots to fill as the Rattlers will be losing all three of their outfielders this season in Shelly Lee Zawadzki (Sr., San Antonio), Katie Nichols (Sr., San Macros, Texas) and Alex Garcia (Sr., San Antonio). The biggest stat for outfielder Nash is coming in as a junior. With her final season still left to be played, Medina looks to shape nicely into the Rattlers' lineup. Medina's stats didn't falter any her junior year, as she led the city in home runs and was named All-Area Super Team, All-State Team and Class 28-5A MVP. That same year, Medina helped her team crown another district title and advance to the regional semifinals. As a sophomore, Medina progressed to be selected First Team All-District and was ranked second in the city for batting average. “(Shortstop) is a position we are looking for,” says Fields, “and we're hoping she can help fill some voids we will lose with our graduating seniors.”Īs a freshman at Southwest High School, Medina first began gaining recognition as a supreme player on the field, being named Second Team All-District as well as winning the district championship.
