Hoyt pro fit grip3/17/2023 ![]() The second is the lack of mounting points on the riser itself, theres no thread at the back of the riser to allow you to mount any weights, etc. I've stuck limb savers onto the riser to try and negate it. I shoot it with a pair of Border HEX5's (Scottish brand of limbs, quite aggressive) and there is alot of vibration. It's surprisingly stiff for its size and weight, but it is lacking in some areas. For the money, I have to say its pretty good, but if you can get a 2nd hand GMX for the price like u/spanish_archer says, go for the GMX. Yes, I have one as a backup bow when I'm not shooting compound. End of the day you need to enjoy it, and each of these risers will get you there. Get the one you feel is right, and don't regret spending loads of money on something. It may even be achieved with the grip on it.ĭo I think it would make a difference? Probably not. The GMX possibly shares this geometry, although you'd have to check. The HPX and IonX have a geometry that leads to a more aggressive feel over other hoyts, even in the formula range. Different geometries get you different results. This is the relationship between the limb pivot point and the button. The geometry, which is the only thing that you can't really mess with. The balance, which you can get to your liking with stabilisers with a bit of effort (some risers have a better innate balance due to their construction, Italian models are great for this, Bernadini in particular) The grip, which you can mess around with anyway, especially easy on a hoyt. ![]() I can't see it making a difference.Ī riser has 3 key features in terms of performance: Can you be competitive with the horizon? Yes. I also suspect the heftier price tag may mean a higher tolerance in the machining process (read: less chance to be flawed).Īs for horizon vs gmx, the gmx is "better". I would take anodised over the basic painted any day, it is simply much more hard wearing. You can add the grip and tiller bolts after purchase, the only thing that is different is the finish. It is the same as the Horizon apart from the things you have stated.
